Keith Nichols fine artist
My work is influenced by the natural world. I explore the practice of painting: making use of the material properties of each medium and a free, instinctive approach. My intent is to create paintings that are expressive and experimental - to pare back and to reduce the work to the simplest gesture and sense of movement, whilst honing in and bringing into focus the element of nature that inspired the need to paint. Some of the work is a pure reduction of form, whilst others are more complex as the need to express arises.
Works are held in private collections, both in the UK and internationally.
In 2019, I won the Parker Prize for Artistic Excellence at Art for Youth London.
